Isinongo samaZulu: Inspired by the traditional ingredients used by the Zulu nation in their day to day cooking. This versatile spice blend is made with tomato, onions and herbs. It’s the perfect all round seasoning on meats, roast potatoes or rice dishes.
Recipe: Isinongo samaZulu sauce for pasta
• 2 medium onions
• 2 cloves garlic
• 1 Tbsp chopped parsley
• 2 medium finely diced tomatoes or 1 medium sized tomato can (diced or ground)
• 2 Tbsp Isinongo samaZulu
• 2 Tbsp oil or butter
• salt to taste
• In hot oil or butter fry onions and garlic until golden brown, add tomatoes and Isinongo sama-Zulu spice and simmer for 10 minutes.
• Add parsley and salt to taste.
• Serve with tortellini or rigatoni, or as a sauce on chicken or fish fillets. Enjoy!
